The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) was adopted
by the UN General Assembly 20 November 1989. The Convention
contains four main general principles: the prohibition of
discrimination (Article 2), the primacy of the best interests of
the child (Article 3), the right to survival and development
(Article 6) and the obligation to respect the views of the child
according to his/her age and stage of development (Article 12). The
CRC concerns all people under 18 years old.
