During 2009 the Child Advisory Board is following up the implementation of the measures of the government child and youth policy development programme and progress on the Child, Youth and Family Programme. The Advisory Board supports the work of the Advisory Council for Youth Affairs in its work on assessing the implementation of the development programme.
Maria Kaisa Aula is the chairperson of its working group on a Finland Fit For Children. The Advisory Boards working group on child information activated the gauging of development work on child welfare in the policy programme, and this collaborative work continues.
2009 is the 20th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the policy programme is coordinating the campaign for the anniversary.
The implementation of the campaign is also part of the work of
the Advisory Board this year.
The Advisory Board is making known the Council of Europe's new
strategy on child rights, Building a Europe for and with Children -
Towards a Strategy for 2009-2011. The Advisory Board has been
designated as a Council of Europe Focal Point in Finland, and its
representative is the secretary of the Advisory Board, Auli
Paavola. The Advisory Board acts as a national link to the Council
of Europe in its development of European action policy lines
concerning the prevention of violence against children.
